Clarycon News Archive: Freescale - IBM Collaborations

1/23/2007
In a stunning twist of events, Freescale announces plans that it will join IBM's alliance of semiconductor manufacturers for joint semiconductor research and development. Freescale will partner with IBM on 45, 32 and 22 nm technology development. The company will abandon R&D efforts at Crolles II. Freescle was the supplier for the Apple G3 and G4 processors and lost the 64 bit business to IBM in 2002 when the G5 processor was introduced. In June 2005, Apple then announced that it would switch to Intel processors. Source: EE Times
